Questions and answers
Here we have gathered the most common questions about ordering, payment, shipping, and returns – as well as practical advice before your purchase of fittings.
Order & account
Do I need to be logged in to shop?
No. You do not need to register to shop in our online store. If you wish, you can create an account during checkout.
If you register, your details (name, address, phone number, etc.) are saved in our system, and you can log in in the future to view previous orders and the status of ongoing orders.
Can orders be placed by phone?
Unfortunately not. As a company, we are not allowed to accept the terms and conditions on your behalf, so you as the customer must place the order yourself in our online store.
But don't hesitate to call us at 031-50 89 90 if you have any questions or if something isn't working – we're happy to help.
I've clicked "Add to cart" but I can't get to the checkout?
On each product there is an "Add to cart" button, and next to it a box where you enter the desired quantity. Enter the quantity and press "Add to cart".
After that you can continue shopping or go directly to Checkout, which you will find at the top right.
Payment
How do I pay at Specialbeslag AB?
You can pay with secure card payment or by invoice, which you will receive via e-mail. Today we offer the following payment methods:
- Card payment: VISA, Mastercard
- Qliro – Invoice
- Swish Direct Payment (Mobile BankID required)
Is the price per piece or per pair?
All prices are per piece unless otherwise stated in the description. Some products are sometimes shown from two angles at once, but the price is still per piece.
Exception: door handles are always sold in pairs. Hinges are sold individually and not in pairs – this is because sometimes you want, for example, 3 hinges instead of 4.
Delivery & shipping
How long does it take before I receive my goods?
We try to ship your goods as quickly as possible. As a rule, the goods are packed the day after we receive your order and shipped the same day.
If you are a business customer, the goods are shipped with Företagspaket 16.00.
How much does shipping cost?
- Private individuals: SEK 59. Sent by postal parcel (weight over 2 kg) or postal goods letter (weight under 2 kg).
- Bulky parcels (e.g. tubes or tracks for sliding door units): SEK 150.
- Business customers: always Business Parcel 16.00, SEK 205 incl. VAT.
- Outside Sweden: SEK 198 incl. VAT.
Does Specialbeslag AB sell and deliver outside Sweden's borders?
Yes, almost all of Europe can order. Otherwise, we currently only sell within the borders of Sweden.
About the products
Are screws included with the fittings?
As a rule, screws are always included with the fittings we sell. Some exceptions apply – e.g. stainless steel screws or screws in solid brass are not included.
How do I know what fits with what?
If you have found, for example, a door handle you are interested in and don't know which accessories you need, we have added the matching items under “Related products”. This applies to all fittings (knobs, handles, furniture fittings, etc.) that belong together.
Can galvanized or lacquered fittings rust?
Yes. It all depends on the type of galvanization or paint used, but sooner or later fittings will rust in exposed environments. A painted fitting will hold up until salt penetrates the paint.
If you buy our gate latches or gate hinges, it may be worth applying rust-protection treatment to them. This applies to all items that are not stainless steel and are to be installed outdoors.
How do I read the dimensions of your products?
There are several measurements specified on the website. The most common ones are explained here:
- Projection dimension: how much an item protrudes from the surface it is mounted on (e.g. a knob or hook against a wall).
- Wire/rod dimension: usually applies to kitchen handles – the thickness of a cylindrical handle.
- Handle length/grip length: applies to interior and exterior door handles and indicates how long the handle is.
- C/C dimension (centre-to-centre): centre to centre of the screw holes, i.e. the distance between the screw holes.
Returns
What applies to returns?
Specialbeslag AB applies the Distansavtalslagen (the Swedish Distance Contracts Act), which gives you as a customer a 60-day right of return without any special reason. The item must be returned in unchanged condition and in its original packaging or equivalent. The customer is responsible for the shipping cost.
Always contact us before making the return – via email order@specialbeslag.se or phone 031-50 89 90.
How does a return work, step by step?
- Pack the fittings in a durable package. Protection with e.g. plastic or newspaper is appreciated.
- Include the delivery note you received with the shipment (or a note with your order number) for identification.
- Label the package with: Specialbeslag AB, Norra Deltavägen 3, 417 05 Göteborg.
- Contact your nearest postal agent to send the package to us. Shipping costs apply.
- We receive the return and credit the fittings we have received. If you haven't paid the invoice yet, we will remove the returned fittings from it. If you paid by card or direct payment, the amount will be refunded to the same account within 2–3 banking days.
Good to know before you buy
Handles & knobs
- The measurement between the centers of the handle's screw holes is called the c/c measurement (center-to-center). The most common is 96 mm, but other measurements include 32, 64, 78, 87, 128, 160, 192, 224, 256, 288, 320, 342, 442, 492, 592, 692, 792 and 1192 mm.
- The thickness of doors, drawers and cabinet doors matters when we determine screws for handles and knobs.
- If you're shopping in-store – feel free to bring a door or drawer along, as it makes it easier to choose the right fitting.
Hooks
Consider the mounting: what material is the wall made of – plasterboard, brick, wood, concrete, or something else? This determines which fixing is suitable.
Hinges
What type of hinge do you need?
- Inset (rebated): there is a small edge on the door that protrudes outside the cabinet frame.
- Full inset: the door sits inside the cabinet frame.
- Overlay: the door covers the entire cabinet frame.
- Half overlay: the door covers half of the cabinet frame.
Are the hinges on the right or left side? A closed door with the hinges visible on the right side is right-hung; on the left side it is left-hung.
Door handles (for interior door)
- Do you have through-fixing in the door, or are the door handles screwed on with a small wood screw? This determines whether you need fixed roses (newer interior doors) or loose roses (older interior doors, from around the 1950s and earlier).
- Do you need a WC turn/release (bathroom lock) for the bathroom or toilet? It can always be found among related items if you find a handle that fits.
- In the 1970s there was a reversible lock case where the keyhole escutcheon sits above the handle with a small square hole. These locks require special escutcheons with a square hole.
Locks (does not apply to online sales)
- What type of door? Exterior door, interior door, or toilet door.
- What does the lock case look like? Please bring the lock with you.
- The thickness of the door determines the screw length and the size of the cylinder ring. Measure the height of the cylinder from the door to the top of the cylinder.
- Bring the lock with you if you need loose keys. We do not make keys on site but can order new ones for you (applies only to keys for cylinder locks). For lever locks, contact your local locksmith.
- For furniture locks, we have key blanks that the customer files themselves, but it is best to bring the lock so we can try if we have a working key in stock.
Design and surface finish
The fittings are available in a wide range of designs and finishes. Under each item on the website, it states which surface finish it has.
